About Rebecca

Why Rebecca Hopp is The Right Choice for Ferrysburg

Former Mayor Rebecca Hopp, maintained low taxes and a balanced budget for Ferrysburg. This demonstrates the importance of fiduciary responsibility by making the best decisions for the community while still maintaining critical services for the residents. The successful funding for replacement of Smith’s Bridge is one example of how Rebecca persevered. She is dedicated and committed to finding solutions. “When elected Mayor in 2017, I was confronted with the uncertain future of funding for Smith’s Bridge. Throughout my four years as Mayor, I worked closely with the Michigan Department of Transportation Bureau of Bridges & Construction and State officials. Before I left office in 2021, Smith’s Bridge was selected as part of the MDOT Bridge Bundling Initiative.” This is only one example how Rebecca has utilized her innovative and visionary skills to create partnerships with essential entities.

Former Mayor Rebecca Hopp successfully navigated the city through the pandemic crises, partnering closely with the city staff to ensure transparency, city services remained intact and residents were updated with critical information. Rebecca personally contacted over 500 residents by phone to ask how the city could assist. “My phone calls were well received and created some wonderful conversations with residents.”

During the 100 year flood in 2020, Rebecca volunteered with the Ottawa County Emergency Center to mitigate flooding in the city by filling hundreds of sandbags and connecting residents with agencies who were able to assist in their time of need. The flood had a tremendous impact on many home-owners and businesses. As mayor, Rebecca Hopp will continue to invest in the community by actively participating and meeting the needs of the residents, business owners and visitors.

Residents, business owners and visitors are the heart of our wonderful city and deserves a forward thinking, proven leader. The City of Ferrysburg deserves aMayor who has successfully worked with the community to meet their needs. “I know I can put my experiences to work on day one. I’m proud to have established important partnerships to accomplish successful initiatives for Ferrysburg. I promise to continue to move Ferrysburg forward by creating new opportunities to ensure all people of all abilities are welcome in Ferrysburg
